Vintage 1945 Stylish Flower Arc Hat #415

Quick & easy to create, this becoming hat will become a seasonal favorite
& you’ll be a well dressed lady in town or country!

MATERIALS: 
Hiawatha Super Wired Chenille Art #36, 2 skeins Main Color [MC]
            & 1 skein Contrasting Color [CC]
#00 Steel or #5 Bone Crochet Hook

HAT:
Starting at center with MC, ch 25 [ch should meas 7”].

1ST RND:  2 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 22 ch, 4 sc in next [3nd] ch, then work along other side of foundation ch, work sc in each ch across, end with 2 sc in same place where first 2 sc were worked.  Sl st in next st [52 sts].

2ND RND:  Ch 3, 2 dc at base of ch-3, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 22 sts, 2 dc in next st, 3 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 22 sts, 2 dc in next st, 3 dc in last st.  Join with sll st to top of ch-3 [64 sts].

3RD RND:  Ch 3, dc at base of ch-3, 2 dc in each of next 4 sts, dc in next 22 sts, 2 dc in each of next 10 sts, dc in next 22 sts, 2 dc in each of last 5 sts.  Join.

4TH RND:  Use double chenille, ch 3, work 4 dc at base of ch-3, drop loop fr0om hook insert hook in top of ch-3 & draw dropped loop thru, ch 2, sk 1 st, popcorn in next st -- to make popcorn-work 5 dc in same place, drop loop from hook, insert hook in top of 1st dc & draw dropped loop thru --, [ch 2, sk 1 st, popcorn in next st] 3 times; [ch 2, sk 2 sts, popcorn in next st] 8 times; [ch 2, sk 1 st, popcorn in nest st] 9 times; [ch 2, sk 2 sts, popcorn in next st] 8 times; [ch 2, sk 1 st, popcorn in next st] 4 times; ch 2, join & fasten off.

FLOWER [MAKE 30]: 
Lay an 18” strand of Cc along length of pencil.

Wind single strand of MC 15 times around pencil, over CC.  Break of MC.

Sl all loops off pencil & knot ends of CC tog tightly to fasten [ends will extend from opposite sides of flower].

Bend one end of chenille, [making small twist for center of flower] & bring this end thru to other side of flower.  Twist both ends tog close to flower to fasten.

Arrange flowers as shown in photo & tack in place.  Trim ends of stems.

NOTE: 
To make this hat extra special, add a veil of net, lace or dotted-swiss in a matching color.  Experimenting with fabrics & color combinations will make this your own original creation!  Your hat will be truly fascinating!
