Free Pattern - Vintage 1940’s Town & Country Hat #316 - Crochet

Vintage 1940’s Town & Country Hat #316

American Thread Company “Aunt Lydia‘s” Heavy Rug yarn Art. #235, 2 skeins
    or “Puritan” Crochet Cotton yarn Art. #40, 2 balls
#G Crochet Hook

Ch 5, join to form ring, ch 1 & work 2 sc in each st of ch, do not join rnds.  Place a marker at beg of each rnd.

2nd rnd:  2 Sc in each sc.

3rd rnd:  * 2 Sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * all around [30 sc].

4th rnd:  Working in sc inc in every 3rd sc.

5th rnd:  1 Sc in each sc.

6th rnd.  Inc in every 4th sc, then work 5 rnds even.

10th rnd:  Inc in every 5th sc, then work 5 rnds even.

16th rnd:  Inc in every10th sc, then work 2 rnds even.

19th rnd:  Brim:  Inc in every 6th sc, then work 1 rnd even.

21st rnd:  Inc in every 7th sc, then work 8 rnds even, break yarn. 

Turn brim up on the 19th rnd, then turn down about half way or shape desired. 

Sew feather in position.
