GAUGE:
26
patterns = 12” before blocking
Approximate
Size: 14” x 9”
FIRST
HALF OF BAG:
Ch
loosely 58 sts, 2 dc in 4th st from hook, * yo, draw up a
loop in same st as last st, yo & through 2 loops, sk 1 st of ch, yo, draw
up a loop in next st, yo & through 2 loops, yo & through all 3 loops, 1
dc in same st as last dc; rep from *, omitting last dc at end of row [27
patterns].
2nd
row [wrong side]: Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in
center dc of first pattern, * yo, draw up a loop in same st as last st, yo
& through 2 loops, yo, draw up a loop in center dc of next pattern, yo
& through 2 loops, yo & through 3 loops, 1 dc in same st as last st;
rep from *, working last st in top of turning ch & omit last dc.
Rep
2nd row until piece measures 9”, end on right side.
SCALLOP:
Ch
1, turn, 1 sl st in first st, 3 dc in next st, * 1 sl st in center of next
pattern; 3 dc in center of next pattern; rep from *, end 1 sl st in top of
turning ch. Fasten off.
SECOND
HALF OF BAG:
Join
yarn at end of first row.
Work
across opposite side of foundation ch as for 2nd row, matching
patterns.
Finish
to correspond to first half.
Stretch
& block to given measurements.
FINISHING:
Sew
seams.
Cut
buckram same size as bag; cut lining double, ¼” larger on all sides.
Cover
both sides of buckram with lining.
Line
bag & sew slide fastener to center top.

JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:
[Before
joining finished pattern pieces]
Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Sew
in zipper [if desired].
Attach
ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to
give shape extra support.
