Vintage 1944 Cute Calot Crochet Cap #1084

The college or business woman will delight in this delight calot hat.  It’s easy to put on and always looks smart. 

MATERIALS:
Bucilla Strawcraft
OR
Fleisher’s Straw-Twist [all rayon, 2 skeins
Bucilla or Fleisher’s White Crochet Hook #6

GAUGE:
5 rnds = 2 ¼”

Entire calot is made using 2 strands.

CALOT:
Ch 4, 1 sc in 4th st from hk, * ch 3, 1 sc in same st as 1st sc; rep from * twice [4 lps].

Mark end of rnds.

2ND RND:  * 1 Sc in 1st lp, ch 3, 1 sc in same lp, ch 3, 1 sc in same lp; rep from * in each lp [8 lps].

3RD RND:
Work even as follows; * 1 sc in next lp, ch 3, 1 sc in same lp; rep from * 7 times [8 lps].

4TH RND:  * 1 Sc in next lp, ch 3, 1 sc in same lp, ch 3, 1 sc in same lp [1 lp inc]; rep from * 7 times [16 lps].

5TH RND:  Work even.

6TH RND:  Inc 1 lp in every 2nd lp [24 lps].

Work 6 rnds even [about 5 ¼” from center].  Fasten off.

FLOWERS:
PETAL:
Ch 3, join with sl st in 1st st forming ring.

Work 1 sc, 1 hdc, 6 dc, 1 hdc, 1 sc all in ring; join with sl st in 1st sc.  Fasten off.

Make 11 petals for each flower.

Arrange petals to form flower & sew to calot as shown in photo.

Make another flower & sew to opposite side of calot.
