5, slip st in first st. Ch 3, work 14 dc
in ring, join with slip st in top of ch 3; 15 sts, always counting ch 3 as 1

rnd: Ch 4, 1 dc in next st, * ch 1, 1 dc in
next st; repeat from * around, end ch 1, join with slip st in 3rd st
of ch 4; [30 sts].
3rd
rnd: Ch 3, 1 dc in same st as slip st, * 1 dc
in next ch st, 2 dc in next st; repeat from *, end 1 dc in last ch st, join
with slip st in top of ch 3; [45 sts].
4th
rnd: Ch 4, 1 dc in next st, * ch 1, skip 1, 1
dc in next st, ch 1, 1 dc in next st;

FINISHING:
Cover
wrong side of hat with light coating of hat sizing.
Trim
with 1 ½ yards of narrow velvet ribbon as illustrated.
Sew
in headband & elastic.
