1940s Two-Tone Glamour Clutch #1028 - Crochet
Quick & easy to create, this two-tone bag with the ridge
stitch detailing will become a season-spanning favorite…you‘ll want to recreate
in many colors!
MATERIALS:
6 – 75 yd spools Black Corde
2 – 75 yd spools White Corde
Interchangeable with 4 gr Ribbonette, 3 gr Soutache, 7 oz Straw
Bone Crochet Hook #5

BAG:
Chain 111 sts with white, sk 1 st * work 1 sc in 1st 6 sts, 1 dc in next 2 sts, rep from * to end of row.

2ND
ROW: Ch 1, ruen * 1 sc in next 6 sts,
work dc in next st. Work back post of
st, work dc in next dc in back post of st.

3RD
ROW: * Work 1 sc in 1st 6
sts. Work dc using 1st post
in next 2 dc, rep from * to end of row.
Work
2nd & 3rd rows for 8”.
BAND: [make 2]:
Chain 2” with black, sk 1 st, work 1 sc in each ch st.
Chain 2” with black, sk 1 st, work 1 sc in each ch st.
Ch
1, turn, work in sc, st for st for 12”.
Sew
this piece to bottom of bag, take in enough to gather top of bag evenly.
MISS
JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:
[Before
joining finished pattern pieces]
Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Sew
in zipper [if desired].
Attach
ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to
give shape extra support.
