5, join with sl st into ring, work 8 sc in ring, join with sl st in first sc.
2ND
RND: Ch 3, yo, draw up loop in same st
as ch 3, yo & thru 2 loops on hook, yo, draw up loop in same st, yo &
thru 2 loops on hook yo & thru 3 loops on hook, ch 2, ** yo, draw up a loop
in next st, yo & thru 2 loops, * yo,
draw up loop in same st, yo & thru 2 loops *; rep bet *’s once, yo &
thru rem 4 loops, ch 2 **; rep bet **’s 6 times, join with sl st in top of ch
3.
3RD
RND: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as sl st, * 3
sc in ch 2 sp, 1 sc in st at top of cluster, 3 sc in next sp, 3 sc in top of
next cluster *; rep bet *’s 3 times, end last rep 1 sc in same st as first 2
sc, join with sl st.
4TH
RND: Ch 1, 2 sc in same st as sl st, * 1
sc in each of next 9 sts, 3 sc in corner st; rep from * 3 times, end last rep 1
sc in first st, join [48 sc]. Fasten
off.
Make
39 squares.
TRIANGLES:
Ch
4, 2 sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in last st.
Always
fasten off at end of every row & work all rows from same side.
2ND
ROW: Join yarn in first sc, ch 3, 1 dc
in same st, ch 2; rep bet **’s of 2nd row of square in each of next
3 sc, work 2 dc in last st.
3RD
ROW: With loop on hook, work 1 sc in top
of ch 3, 1 sc in first dc; rep bet *’s of 3rd row of square, end 1
sc in each of last 2 dc [21 sc].
4TH
ROW: With loop on hook, work 1 sc in
first st & each of next 9 sts, 3 sc in corner st, finish row [23 sc]. Fasten off.
Make
5 triangles.
BUTTONHOLE
SQUARE:
Ch
16 loosely, join into ring.
Omit
first row, work as for 2nd row of square working over ch.
Finish
as for other squares.
FINISHING:
Pin
out square & triangles & steam.
Assemble
according to chart.
Sew
tog from right side, sewing thru back thread of sc.
Line
bag.
Cut
buttonhole in lining to match buttonhole in bag & sew around buttonhole
edge.
Sew
top edges [extending at each side of flap] tog.
Sew
on button.
MISS
JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:

joining finished pattern pieces]
Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Sew
in zipper [if desired].
Attach
ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to
give shape extra support.
