GAUGE:
8 sts = 1”;
10 rows = 1”.

BLOUSE:  BACK:
Start at bottom, with straight needles cast on 93 sts & p across.

2nd row:  K 28, * O, k 2 tog, k 4.  Rep from * 5 more times, O, k 2 tog, k 27.

Hereafter work in st st [ k 1 row, p 1 row], inc 1 st at both ends of every 4th row until there are 125 sts on needle.

Work straight until piece meas 8”.

TO SHAPE ARMHOLES:
Bind off 6 sts at beg of each of next 4 rows.

Then dec 1 st at end of each row until 89 sts rem.

Work straight until piece meas 2 ½” from 1st row of armhole shaping.

Next row:  K 26, drop next st, cast on 2 sts, k 35, drop next st, cast on 2 sts, k rem sts.

Dropped sts should fall directly over “yarn over’s” of 2nd row.

Cont to work straight [92 sts] for another 1 ½”.

Next row:  K 35, * drop next st, cast on 2 sts, k 5.  Rep from * 3 more times; drop next st, cast on 2 sts, k 33 [7 dropped sts in all].

Cont to work in st st only for another 1 ½” [96 sts].

On next row, with right side of work toward you, k across 1st 48 sts, turn [thus start center back opening].

Work over these 48 sts only until piece meas 7 ¼” from 1st row of armhole shaping.

To shape shoulder, start at armhole edge, bind off 4 sts every other row until 20 sts rem.  Bind off.

Attach yarn to base of center back opening & work to correspond with opposite side.  Ravel all dropped stitches down to “yarn over’s” of 2nd row.

FRONT:
Start at bottom, with straight needles cast on 103 sts & p across.

2nd row:  K 33, * O, k 2 tog, k 4.  Rep from * 5 more times; O, k 2 tog, k 32.

Now work in st st, inc 1 st at both ends of every 6th row until there are 127 sts on needle.

Work straight until piece meas 8” in all.

TO SHAPE ARMHOLES:
Bind off 6 sts at beg of each of next 4 rows.

Then dec 1 st at end of each row until 89 sts rem.

Work straight until piece meas 2 ¾” from 1st row or armhole shaping.

Cont as for Back until 7 dropped stitches are completed.

Work straight until piece meas 5 ½” from 1st row or armhole shaping.

On next row, with right side of work toward you, k across 1st 28 sts, bind off 40 sts [for neck], k rem 28 sts.

Work over these 28 sts only until piece meas 6 ½” from 1st row of armhole shaping.

To shape shoulder, start at armhole edge, bind off 4 sts every other row until all sts are bound off.

Attach yarn at opposite side of neck edge & work to correspond.

Ravel all dropped stitches down to “yarn over’s” of 2nd row.

SLEEVES:
Start at bottom, with straight needles cast on 86 sts.

Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2, for ¾”, inc 10 sts at equal distances apart on last row.

Then work in st st, inc 1 st at both ends of every 4th row until there are 112 sts on needle.

Work straight until piece meas 4 ¼” in all.

To shape top of sleeve, bind off 6 sts at beg of each of next 2 rows.

Then dec 1 st at end of each row until 48 sts rem.

Now bind off 2 sts at beg of each row until 24 sts rem.  Bind off.

Sew up underarm & shoulder seams.

Sew up sleeve seams & sew sleeves in, fold extra fullness into 5 pleats, 1” apart, at top.

Work a row of sc along neck edge and both sides of opening, making for ch-6 button loops on right side.

Sew on buttons to correspond.

Attach yarn to side seam at bottom of blouse, ch 7, * sk 2 sts, tr in next st, ch 3.  Rep from * around [thus making a beading for elastic].

Sew in shoulder pads.

SKIRT:
Start at bottom, with circular needle cast on 464 sts.  Join, be careful not to twist sts.

1st rnd:  K 57, * O, k 2 tog, k 56.  Rep from * around, end with O, k 2 tog [464 sts].
Mark k2 tog with safety pin as end of rnd.

Mark all “yarn over’s” with colored thread.  These colored threads indicate places where stitches are to be dropped in order to form panels; therefore no decs must be made over these sts.

** Work in st st [k each rnd] for 18 rnds.

Next rnd:  K 12, k 2 tog [dec], * k 28, k 2 tog, k 26, k 2 tog.  Rep from * around [thus dec 2 sts in each panel, bet colored threads]. End with k 13.

Rep from ** until 288 sts rem, make decs above prev ones.

Then dec 16 sts [2 sts bet panel sts] on one rnd every inch until 208 sts rem [26 sts in each panel].

Work straight until piece meas 27” in all.

Next row:  K 24, * drop next st, cast on 2 sts, k 25.  Rep from * around.  Bind off but do not break off; make a beading as for blouse all around top of skirt.  Fasten off.

Ravel all dropped stitches down to “yarn over’s” of 1st row.

Run elastic through beadings of skirt & blouse at one time, & sew ends together.

ENJOY!
