MATERIALS:

14” Velvet Tubing

GAUGE:
5 ½ sts = 1”
4 hdc rnds & 1 bead rnd = 1 1/8”
5 ½ sts = 1”
4 hdc rnds & 1 bead rnd = 1 1/8”
NOTE: Wrong side of crochet is right side of
fabric.
HAT:
Transfer beads & buttons onto satin twist in following sequence: 1 bead [1 button, 4 beads] 4 times; 1 button & 1 bead.
Transfer beads & buttons onto satin twist in following sequence: 1 bead [1 button, 4 beads] 4 times; 1 button & 1 bead.
Starting at center, using corde & #0 hk, ch 38 to meas
about 7”.
1ST RND –RIGHT SIDE: Sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc in each
ch – 37 sc. Drop corde.
With wrong side
of 1st rnd toward you, attach satin twist in base of 1st
sc.
Ch 1, sc where yarn was attached,
then working along opposite side of starting ch, make * bead sc in next 2 ch
[bead sc in next ch, sc in next] 3 times.
Rep from * ending with sc in last ch.
End off satin twist.
Pick up corde &, with beads toward you, work 2 more sc
in same place as last corde sc, sc in each satin twist st; 2 sc in same place
as 1st sc – 78 sc. Join with
sl st in 1st sc. Ch 2, turn.
2ND RND:
2 Hdc in same place as sl st, hdc in next sc; 3 hdc in next sc; hdc in
each sc to center sc at other end, 5 hdc in center sc. Hdc in each rem sc, hdc in same place as 1st
2 hdc – 86 hdc. Join with sl st in 1st
hdc. Join, ch 1, turn.
3RD RND:
2 Sc in same place as sl st, sc in each st to center hdc at other end, 5
sc in center hdc; sc in each hdc to center st of next corner; 3 sc in center
hdc, sc in each rem hdc, sc in same place as 1st 2 sc –94 sc. Join.
4TH RND:
Sl st loosely in each sc. Join
& end off.
Slip headband into velvet tubing, turn under ends &
sew.
Sew short strip to headband, having point on strip extend
½’ beyond end of headband.
LONG STRIP:
Transfer 99 beads [no buttons] onto satin twist.
Transfer 99 beads [no buttons] onto satin twist.
With cords, ch 200 [about 36”].
1ST RND – RIGHT SIDE: Sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc in each
ch – 199 sc. Drop corde.
With wrong side
of 1st rnd toward you, attach satin twist in base of 1st
sc. Ch 1, sc where yarn was attached,
then working along opposite side of starting ch make, * bead sc in next sc, sc
in next. Rep from * -- 99 beads &
100 sc. End off satin twist.
Pick up corde &, with beads toward you, work 2 more sc
in same place as last corde sc, sc in each satin twist st; 2 sc in same place
as 1st sc.
Then rep 2nd, 3rd & 4th
rnds of short strip.
Place pin 1 ½’ in from square end & another pin 7 ½’
beyond 1st pin.
* Bring 2nd pin up to 1st pin to form
loop with beads on outside.
Sew tog where pins meet.
Place pin 1 ½’ away from sewing & another 9” beyond.
Rep from * until 3 loops in all have been made leaving
pointed end about 5 ½” long.
Sew square end of long strip on top of square end of short
strip.
Leaving 1’ free at 1 end of headband, sew long strip in
place.
