Vintage 1933 Cavalier Cap #1075

Stick a feather in your hat & you’ll be smart.  You can make this cute style in any color with lustrous Bucilla Chenille.


SIZE:
Headsize 22”

MATERIALS:
Bucilla Chenille, Art #6275, 6 skeins
Bucilla White 6” Crochet Hook #3, Art #3840


CAP:
Ch 43, 1 dc in 4th st from hk, 1 dc in each rem st of chain [41 sts in row, counting ch 3 at beg of row as dc].

1ST ROW RIDGED PATT [right side of work]:  Ch 3 [to be counted as 1 dc], turn, 1 dc in each st, taking up back thread only of sts below.

2ND ROW RIDGED PATT:  Ch 3, turn, 1 dc in each st, taking up both threads of sts below.

Rep last 2 rows until piece meas about 20” from beg, or enough to fit around head when slightly stretched; end with 1st row of patt; fasten off.

Fold strip in half, with wrong side out, & sew tog on 2 sides [1 long & 1 short side].

Turn hat inside out, make fold about 2” in depth at top of hat & sew thru.

Turn down at both ends as shown in photo, & tack.

Work 2 rnds of sc around lower edge, spacing sts so that edge will lie flat.
