Vintage 1950s Miss
Louisiana Doll #581 - Crochet
A
clever woman very quickly & easily will crochet this exquisite doll with
matching cap, petticoat & panties…which will become a personal favorite to
keep or gift to that special person!

UNDERSKIRT:

at waist, make ch to reach loosely around doll's waist.

Ch 3, turn.
2ND
ROW: Dc in first dc, * dc in next 2 dc,
make 2 dc in next dc. Rep from *
across. Ch 3, turn.

ROW: Dc in first dc, dc in each dc, inc
6 dc evenly across [inc 1 dc, make 2 dc in 1 dc]. Ch 3, turn.
4TH
& 5TH ROWS: Rep 3rd row,
sl st in top of starting ch.
NOW
WORK IN RNDS AS FOLLOWS:

THRU 13TH RNDS: Ch 3, dc in
same place as sl st, dc in each dc, inc 6 dc evenly around. Join.
Break off at end of 13th rnd.
OVERSKIRT:
Start

ROW: Pick up front lp of each dc, sk
first dc, dc in next 2 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc. Rep from * across. Ch 3, turn.
SHAPE
BACK:

ROW: Pick up back lp of each dc, sk
first dc, dc in next 11 dc. Ch 3, turn.
2ND
ROW: Pick up front lp of each dc, sk
first dc, dc in next 10 dc. Ch 3, turn.
3RD
ROW: Pick up back lp of each dc, sk
first dc, dc in next 9 dc. Ch 3, turn.

ROW: Pick up front lp of each dc, sk

Attach
thread to other side of last complete row & work as for other side.
BODICE
FRONT:

ROW: Leave 5 dc free on last complete
row of Bodice, attach thread to next dc, ch 3 &, working in back lp only,
dc in each dc to within last 5 dc. Ch 3,
turn.
2ND
ROW: Pick up front lp, sk first dc, dc
in each dc across, dec 1 dc at end of row [to dec 1 dc, work off 2 dc as 1
dc]. Ch 3, turn.
3RD
ROW: Pick up back lp, sk first dc, hold
back on hk last lp of each dc make dc in next 3 dc, yo & draw thru all lps
on hk [cluster made], dc in each dc across to within last 4 dc, make another
cluster over last 4 dc. Ch 3, turn.
4TH
ROW: Pick up front lp, dc in next 4 dc,
half dc in next dc, sc in next 4 dc, half dc in next dc, dc in last 5 sts. Break off.
Sew
shoulder seams tog.
FIRST
FRILL:
1ST
ROW: Attach thread to 5th dc at front of
neck, ch 3, sc in next half dc, [ch 3, sc in next sc] 3 times; ch 3, sc in next
half dc, ch 3, sc in next dc. Ch 3,
turn.
2ND
& 3RD ROWS: Sc in first
lp, * ch 3, sc in next lp. Rep from *
across. Ch 3, turn. Break off at end of 3rd row.
SECOND
FRILL:
1ST
ROW: Attach thread to first free lp on
3rd row of upper part of Bodice, pick up each free lp, * ch 3, sc in next
lp. Rep from * across entire row. Ch 3, turn.
2ND
& 3RD ROWS: Work as for
First Frill. Break off.
THIRD
FRILL:
1ST
ROW: Attach thread to first free lp on
4th row of Bodice.
Complete
as for other frills. Break off.
JACKET:
Use
one strand each of Lavender & Rose thru out & #6 hk.
Start
at back, ch 26.
1ST
ROW: Dc in 4th ch from hk, dc in each ch
across. Ch 3, turn.
2ND
THRU 7TH ROWS: Sk first dc,
dc in each dc across. Ch 3, turn.
LEFT
FRONT:

ROW: Sk first dc, dc in next 3 dc, make

Attach
thread to right side at armhole edge, ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, make 2 dc in next dc. Ch 3, turn.
Complete
as for Left Front. Break off.
Sew
underarm seams for ¼”.
SLEEVE:
Attach
thread at underarm & sc closely around.
Join with a sl st.

RND: Ch 3, dc in each sc to within 1 sc
at center of shoulder, [cluster over next 2 sc] 3 times; dc in each sc
around. Join.
2ND
RND: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join.
3RD
RND: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, dc

Rep from * around. Join.

& 5TH RNDS: Ch 3, dc in

Break

HAT:

ch from hk. Join with sl st.

Sew
flowers to hat.
Tie
ribbon around waist.
PANTIES:
Start
at waist make ch long enough to reach around widest part of doll. Join, be careful not to twist.
1ST
THRU 4TH RNDS: Ch 3, dc in
each st around. Join.
FOR
11“ DOLLS WORK 9 RNDS [INSTEAD OF 4 RNDS].
Ch
4 for crotch & sl st directly opposite.
Break off.
Draw
cord thru sts of 1st rnd.
PETTICOAT:
Cut
strip of 6“ crinoline hemline binding 18” long.
Gather
across one long side to fit around doll's waist.
Sew
back seam, leaving 1“ opening at top.
Sew
bias binding around top.
Sew
hook & eye at back.
Turn
up hem to correspond with length of skirt.
