SINGLE CROCHET STRIP:
Ch 81.
SINGLE CROCHET STRIP:

1ST
ROW: Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from
hk & in each rem ch [80 sc]. Turn.
2ND
ROW: Ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc of prev
row.
Rep
2nd row until 16 rows in all have been made, or desired length.
Make
3 strips.
MOTIFS:
Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring.
Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring.
1ST
ROW: Ch 3, work 4 dc in ring, * ch 2,
work 5 dc in ring; rep from * twice, ch 2, join with sl st.
2ND
ROW: Ch 3, work 1 dc in each of first 4
dc of prev row, * 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc over ch 2 of prev row, 1 dc in each of next
5 dc; rep from * twice, ending with 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc over last ch 2 of prev
row. Join with sl st.
Work
1 row of sc, st for st around motif, working 3 sc in corners. Join with sl st.
Make
28 motifs.
CIRCLES:
Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.

ROW: Work 2 sc in each st.

ROW: Work 2 sc in every other st, with 1
sc in bet.
Cont
inc 6 sts on every row, as described above, until circle meas 5” in diameter.

FINISHING:
Join 7 motifs in row, with sc on right side to form ridge.
Join 7 motifs in row, with sc on right side to form ridge.
Make
4 strips.
Join
alternately with sc strips, with sc on
right side as shown.
Work
1 row of sc around entire piece.
Join
sides tog about 1 ½” from top with row of sc.
Fit
circles into opening at sides & join with row of sc.
Work
1 row of sc around top of bag.
MISS
JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:

joining finished pattern pieces]
Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Sew
in zipper [if desired].
Attach
ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to
give shape extra support.
