Vintage 1916 Lovely Yoke Cape #551

Quick & easy to crochet this charming cape…easy to make into a longer cape...smart & stylish lines…a season-spanning, wardrobe favorite to wear yourself or gift!

MATERIALS: 
Woolco Shetland Floss, 8 skeins White & 4 skeins Color
#4 Crochet Hook
½ yd Ribbon


YOKE:  With color [doubled], ch 100.  Work back in sc.

NEXT ROW:  21 Sc, 3 sc in next st [inc], 1 sc in each of next 4 sts; inc in next st, as before; 1 sc in each of next 50 sts; inc in next st; 1 sc in each of next 4 sts; inc in next st; 1 sc in each of next 21 sts.

Cont working back & forth with sc [always take st from back to form a rib], inc in middle of 3 extra sts, every row, until there are 36 sts bet widening of shoulders.  This completes yoke.

CAPE:  Using white [single], ch 3, & trc in each of first 4 sts; into 5th make shell of 4 trc with ch in center; 4 single trc; 1 shell; 4 trc; 1 shell; cont same across row.

2ND ROW:  Same as 1st row, but work trc around those in prev row, make shell as usual, putting sts into center of shell of prev row.

Work 14 rows even in white.

Working 6 sts in each shell, make 1 row of color, 2 rows of white, 2 rows of color, 1 row of white, 3 rows of color.

Finish with shell & picot edge of white around cape, & row of trc around yoke for ribbon.
